Wear-resistant and adhesive-repellent
Speaking with Martin Drescher, Product and Market Development, Westland Gummiwerke GmbH & Co. KG about the company’s new rubber covering for tension rollers in the label industry.
1. What are the requirements for tension rollers in the label industry? The production of self-adhesive labels and stickers involves processing adhesive-coated films and/or papers. In doing so, the adhesive-coated side of the material inevitably comes into direct contact with the surfaces of tension rollers. These are found in a wide variety of areas, for example, die cutting, printing and perforating. Tension rollers in the drawing units are usually covered with silicone rubber. The reason for this is that proper functioning requires strong release properties (also called non-stick coating) and sufficient grip.
