Unlocking the potential of high-quality printing on tissue material

Schnitt Druck Falz Spezialmaschinen GmbH, SDF, a manufacturer of specialized machinery located in Monheim am Rhein, Germany, operates in an incredibly dynamic and highly competitive industry: its metier has always been to manufacture machinery which its worldwide customers use to produce napkins and other tissue products such as tablecloths and print on them in high quality. In order to focus completely on its development and engineering know-how to develop and produce machines for the tissue and nonwovens converting industry, the company foregoes producing its own components. Once a machine has been engineered, SDF orders the components from selected suppliers all across Germany. Finally, at the plant in Monheim, Germany, the machines are assembled and commissioned. Following customer approval, they are dismantled back into components and delivered. Meanwhile, SDF-machines are running mainly in Europe, Asia and in the USA. Coating International spoke to Peter Allard, Managing Director of SDF und Kai Prahl from BST eltromat, responsible for the company’s sales activities in the region «West», about the special requirements for printing tissue and nonwoven materials and the best solutions to deal with them.
